Landry's surgery

On Monday, July 22, 2013, Landry had her surgery to remove an umbilical cyst from her belly button. When she was born she had an umbilical hernia, which doctors say lead to the cyst. To document our day of surgery in pictures below:

Her surgery was scheduled for 7:30, which meant she could not have anything to eat or drink after midnight. That was my first fear. Hmmm. waking her up at 5:30 to be at the surgery center by 6:30 to not have surgery until at least 7:30. Ya, right. She was going to be a mess and...

Much to my surprise, she did great! Her she is with pepaw. Waiting for them to call us back.

Trading off... now with grandma Carla.

Pepaw and Finley greeting daddy on his arrival. He had just come in from work.

Hangin' with my daddy always puts a smile on my face!

Once they called us back they took her weight, vitals and asked us to change her into this teeny tiny hospital gown. And again, she is still managing to not make a peep.

At this point, we are rounding 7:30 am and she is still going strong, but I can tell she is getting a little squeamish.

And again, she amazed me even more and fell asleep. Shortly after, the nurses came back to get her, which to me seemed easier than us having to hand her off while she was awake. Again, she did wonderful! This is where mom started to get nervous.

Once they took her back, they moved us to a recovery room where she would be brought to us immediately following her short recovery. Since Jeremy had just come straight from work he chose to take a little power nap I guess. I walked around mostly... pacing. I went out front and checked on Finley who had been sitting with my parents and my FIL and Carla. She was fine, but wanted to know where her baby sister was. About 45 minutes went by before the Dr. came in with a full report of how well things went and exactly what he did. A few short minutes later they carried our sweet baby back. (Which I thought was WAY more personable than wheeling her in on a bed)

Heart.breaking. Yes, it was as bad as it looks. We made her a bottle and she would eat a little and cough. We repeated that for about 15 minutes until she finally crashed out. It was the softest little cries I had ever heard. Hurting, but didn't know how to deal with it. Since they had given her a narcotic right after she came out of surgery she pretty much slept from then on. Until...

they came to pull out her IV. You can see her little arm wrapped up here. Once they took out the IV, they pretty much said you are free to go. We slowly changed her into something warm and comfortable and I carried her to the car. AND that was it.

Resting in her own bed shortly after arriving at home.

Here I am a week later and she is doing great. I would say she almost has her full appetite back, but weighing in at a whopping 20 lbs. I would think she could spare a few, don't ya think? J/K I gave her her first bath last night after removing her dressing and everything looked great. (First time since before surgery)

Weekend at Nana & Pawpaw's

Back the end of June, we went to my parents house for the weekend and then kept the girls the following week since we didn't have a baby sitter. She rocks! We had such a fun filled weekend. We swam, made homemade ice cream, ate, ate some more, swam some more and just did some R&R. Beware of picture overload.

I knew my daughter liked Watermelon, but I think she pretty much killed it

Having homemade ice cream!

Finley left 3 months - Landry right 7 months

My mom took the both girls by herself to the grocery store and said it was pretty smoothly. This was her first time. I told her it's not always this easy!

Bryson and Finley getting ready to go swimming

Breaking to have some lunch - yummy!

This was taken while I was gone because I would definitely not let her do this!

Taking baths in Nana's sink

My mom, myself and Finley got our 'piggies painted'!

I got a text with these pictures from my mom that both my nephew and Finley were passed smooth out.

But she was getting extra playtime with this sweet one while the big kids napped. We had a great weekend at my parents and we headed home to a week by ourselves. The next few weeks were crazy getting ready for Landry's surgery.

Momma Daughter pedicures

A couple weeks ago, we headed up to my parents house on Thursday night after work to stay for a long weekend. Friday morning mom and I wanted to get a pedicure and decided this time we would take Finley with us. I have waited for this day for 3 years!

She was a little hesitant at first, but warmed up pretty quickly. My mom and I did get full pedicures and Finley just put her feet in the tub while they did mine. But she sat with my mom while they painted hers.

She wanted pink just like her Nana. Special times with momma and Nana. As soon as we got back, she ran to her daddy to tell him we got our piggy's painted! So stinkin' cute!
