Fun Day Thursday

About a month ago, we found out that Finley's FIRST childhood friend will be moving to Huntsville. (About 3 hours from Austin) Short story - Finley and Avery go to an 'at home' daycare along with a few others. There are 5 total 'little' ones. Finley and Avery have been there since Day 1 together so they are total BFF's. So when Ms. Stacey text me and asked if I was interested in picking up Avery from school that day I jumped (literally) at the chance!

Here they are all loaded in the car headed to our house.

I called J on the way home and told him I was bringing Avery home with  us for a few hours his reply was "Ah, what's another girl? Bring her on!" When we arrived they both wanted to sit in his lap. It was the cutest.thing.ever.

They crashed the John Deere into the garage.

Then they got thirsty. So they sat and cooled off in front of the fan J put out.

I  knew I wouldn't have time to cook, so we made a pit stop on the way home and got pizza! After dinner, I bathed ALL 3 girls, washed hair and got their jammies on.

They sat in my bed and watched a few minutes of cartoons until Mrs. Stacey arrived! We Finley had such a great time. I hope we get to do it again before she leaves. We absolutely love our favorite red head! We are really going to miss her. Stacey and I have promised ourselves that we will try our best to meet halfway throughout the year so the girls can have play dates together.

6 Months

My Sweet Landry:

Six Months:

Weight - 18 lbs. 3 oz. (51%)
Height - 26" (87%)
Head circumference - 43.5 cm

Here is Finley's Six month stats

- Wear size 2 diapers
- Wear size 6 & 9 month jammies
- Momma chose to quit nursing shortly after you turned 5 months
- Over the last week you have been eating 5 1/2 oz at each feeding every 3-4 hours
- We have tried apples - that's about it
- Bedtime 8 - 8:30 pm
- I have been giving you a bath with your sister, which really helps me out. Both you and Finley love it
- Found our toes and hands! You can't keep them out of your mouth
- You are laughing and babbling so much
- Your sleep patterns have really been somewhat better. Sleeping good at night and naps are getting more of a pattern. Morning, lunchtime, afternoon and usually short evening nap
- You also love for the blanket to touch your face
- I took you out of the sleep sack & your are rolling over and sleeping great
- Starting sleeping on your tummy

While at your check up your Dr. noticed a little bulge on your belly button. When you were born you had an umbilical hernia, but it was to go away in time. Well it did. - But at your check up it had returned and the Dr. said we recommended we go to have an Ultrasound and check it out. And we did - and my worst fear happened.

To be continued...

World of Fantasy - Disney on Ice

On Thursday, Finley and I had our first 'Disney on Ice Date'. We went with a girlfriend of mine and her daughter. Finley and Avery go to the sitter together. Being a school night, they did surprisingly well. We first stopped at Chic-fil-A for a quit bite to eat and then it was off the Ice Show.

On our way to pick up our friends

Finley and her BFF

Getting ready for the show to start. I may have been a little more excited than her!

There was Mickey Mouse and Friends...

And To-Mater...

from the movie 'Cars'

and then there was 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Tinkerbell'

Group photo during intermission

Then finally 'Toy Story 3'

This photo really looks like Avery is asleep, but she wasn't. Finley was telling her to say 'cheese'

Over all, SUPER GREAT show and we CANNOT wait to do it again next year. If you haven't been to a Disney Ice show, it is a MUST. This would be momma's best date yet! Daddy was nice enough to watch Landry while Finley and I could go out and it was a perfect day!

Can't a momma complain?

Anyone who has young children knows that alone time is minimal. The last few weeks have been what seems like a roller coaster ride. Finley has been vomiting sick, work has been extremely busy for J, we're having septic issues, J is having a hard time staying home with both girls during the day, we missed the Jimmy Buffet concert last week, etc. It just seems there have been a lot of extras lately that need repair. I guess that's what you get when you purchase a used home.

By the end of last Monday I was ready to fast forward and start with the following week. It started with an early morning phone call from J that he was being held over for 24 hours OT. Great! So I get up,  send the babysitter a text asking if she could watch the girls that day. Long story short – I never heard back from her and wondered hmmmm…. That’s strange! That’s because it was a school holiday that day. Again, great! I had to be at work that morning so I had no choice, but to load them up and take them with me. Thankfully, without disrupting too much, we were able to get in and get done what needed to be done and out of there! On our way home it was then I wished I was a SAHM. But that quickly left my mind after we got home and I wanted to rip my hair out because of the crying! However, I was proud of myself getting both girls to take a nap at the same time that afternoon so I could do a little more work .

Thursday was our Jimmy Buffet concert that we had been waiting for two months and what happens?? OH, it gets postponed! Wait… what in the world would postpone a Buffet concert?? Well in Texas, there is this thing called - sunny and 85 one day and the next it’s 40 and 40 mph winds. They postponed the show to the next day due to inclement weather. Ridiculous, right? (I’m pretty sure I would have been miserable anyway) Oh and did I mention that my mom drove in from Dallas to watch the girls so we could attend the concert? After we got the news about the concert being postponed to the following day it occurs to us that we won’t have a babysitter for that night. Once again… awesome! At least I was able to get my money back for the tickets. My mom then made a suggestion – why didn't we at least go out to dinner while she was there. So we did just that and had a couple these:

Friday night we then ran into our septic tank pump issues. Whomp, whomp, whomp. – Hey, we bought a USED house eight months ago, we should have known something would go wrong. Anyone who has had a septic knows this is NOT any easy or CHEAP fix! As it stands, we may have to have a whole new system installed. I’m not going to write anymore because the thought makes me want to throw up in my mouth. Basically, over the weekend we tried to use at little water as possible until the septic people came on Monday to give us some relief.

Monday came and we started a new week and J has been in a terrible mood lately. I know he has been busy at work, but geez! And it’s not like our home life is peaches ‘n’ cream every day! We have a three year old and a 5 month old. J is an outdoorsy guy and while he watches both girls on his days off, it’s hard for him to manage Landry when she can’t sit-up do much. And she is a big fan of momma… not always daddy! No kidding y'all... she is literally crying everyday I get home from work. But what we do know is this too shall pass!  I told him last night we will look back on these years when they are teenagers and wish they were little again. When all they knew how to do was cry.

After getting the kids to bed last night we both sat outside and enjoyed an adult beverage, listened to the rain and talked about our week. You may not always have date night or get the alone time you are looking for, but last night we both enjoyed each other’s company.

So there it is folks…  Rough ten days. Looking forward to our short vacation trip to the coast in ten days!

Sure do love my babies

Five months

Five Months:

Weight - didn't have you weighted this month
Height - didn't do height this month

We will see next month at your check up

Here is Finley's Five month stats

- Wear size 2 diapers
- Wearing 3-6 months and 6 months
- Still nursing evenings and weekends; momma's supply is dwindling
- Mommy pumps at least 4 times a day
- At Laura's you are still bottle fed BM. (about 5 1/2 ounces every 3 hours)
- Bedtime ranges between 8 - 8:30 pm
- I have been giving you a bath with your sister about 7:30 pm
- You are rolling over both ways ( back to tummy and vice versus) Literally rolling ALL.OVER.THE.PLACE.
- You are having cereal in the evening when we have dinner
- You are laughing and babbling so much it's hysterical
- You have found your toes!
- Your sleep patterns have really been somewhat better. Sleeping good at night and naps are getting more of a pattern. Morning, lunchtime, afternoon and usually short evening nap.
- You also love for the blanket to touch your face (just like your sister did)
- Swaddling is dwindling, but the sleep sack is still a hit!
- Exersaucer is a good fit for now.
- The swing is getting used less and less; I will put it away soon

At this point you sure are a momma's girl. If I leave your sight you stick out your bottom lip and it starts to quiver every time. Over the weekend, I rearranged some furniture in your room and I can't find your monthly stickers. So this picture without them will have to do for now.
